We are thrilled to announce the much-anticipated grand opening of AltaToro, the newest addition to Atlanta's vibrant culinary scene. On June 15, 2023, K5 Hospitality, the renowned restaurant group behind 5Church Midtown, 5Church Buckhead and Virtue Rooftop, will unveil AltaToro, a modern Latin restaurant located at 915 West Peachtree Street in Midtown. With a menu inspired by diverse Latin American flavors and an immersive dining experience, AltaToro is set to become a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts and cultural explorers alike.
At the heart of AltaToro's culinary vision is Executive Chef Gaudalupe "Lupe" Nanbo. Hailing from Guerrero, Mexico, Chef Lupe brings a wealth of experience from working under renowned chefs in New York City and Miami. Together with his talented team, Chef Lupe has crafted a menu that showcases the vibrant flavors of Latin America. Over half of the menu will consist of shareable, tapas-style small plates, while the rest will feature seasonal empanadas, tacos, main dishes, and mouthwatering desserts.
Some standout dishes from the menu include:
Pollo al horno (Mexico): Achiote-marinated chicken, served with cilantro rice, escabeche de verduras, and green cauliflower puree.
Mackerel tiradito (Peru): A refreshing dish with cucumber-ginger-apple emulsion, aji amarillo foam, oranges, fennel, fresno peppers, black olive powder, and dill.
Flautas de tuna (Mexico): Ahi tuna, avocado mousse, sesame, black beans, lime, salsa verde and roja, crema fresca, and cilantro.
Lechón asado for four persons (Puerto Rico): A family-style feast featuring roasted pork, cilantro rice, frijoles fritos, plantains, homemade tortillas, salsa verde, chimichurri, and habanero onions escabeche.
Seafood paella for two (Spain): A classic Spanish dish made with Dacsa rice, red snapper, shrimp, scallops, calamari, mussels, saffron, salsa verde, and garlic aioli.
Operating principal Ayman Kamel, a Midtown resident, is passionate about bringing AltaToro to the community. With a desire to create a high-energy, colorful, and vibrant experience, Kamel aims to showcase not only the authentic dishes but also the art, music, and history of Latin America. From sizzling paella cooked on the patio to nightly live music performances and lively salsa music and dancing, AltaToro promises to captivate your senses. The bar boasts an extensive selection of tequila, mezcal, and craft cocktails made with fresh juices and ingredients.
The unique and visually stunning design of AltaToro is the creation of plexus r+d, the esteemed architecture and interior design studio responsible for 5Church Buckhead. Step into AltaToro, and you'll find yourself in a luxurious, colorful space with elegant modern touches and fiery hues. With dinner service available from Tuesday to Thursday (5-10 p.m.) and Friday to Saturday (5-11 p.m.), AltaToro invites you to experience an unforgettable dining adventure. Complimentary valet parking is available, ensuring a hassle-free visit. In the coming months, we aim to expand our operating hours to include Sundays and Mondays.
